Gantez Warrior – “Bad Chicken” music video shoot

A shot from yesterdays music video shoot taken in Yermo CA. Video and single will be out soon Via Warriors OF Radness records. This shot was taken right before i started shooting film and this was the first setup of the band all together before each of them jumped into a chicken suit. It was only 1 of 10 digital pictures i had time to take the whole time. The road into the property was washed out by the rains and we were lost for an hour trying to find the right way into the property, so we started shooting as the sun was going in. Its been a 6 month project with tons of planning and legistics but im sure when the film gets back it will all be worth it.

The Growlers – “Beach Goth shoot”

HEres part of the Beach Goth shoot we did this past weekend. It was for new tshirts and even got to do a new group photo. Which is extremely rare for THe Growlers. The solo shot of the man in the hat is Growler frontman, Brooks Nielsen. He and Matt Taylor were the Art Directors for the shoot. Matt had been saving a roll of 35mm Ortho litho high contrast ISO 10 B/W for years, so he wanted all black with real contrast throughout. SO gotta wait to get that film developed, and see how it worked.

The photo’s were all naturally lit with a slight fall off from a large eucyluptus tree that was blocking the light- spotted light was making it through the branches and leaves hitting our setup- probably an hour and a half before the sun went in. After we went to the beach and did the Beach Goth scene and all went out on the jetty and made a surf film for Matt. Then the party moved to the 56th street house where Brooks pounded all of the Jack Daniels and nearly finished a bottle of el Jimador Tequila that wasnt mine. We then ended up at the Growlers studio where the boys practiced for an upcoming Tonetta show in a month… fun shoot, them wild Growlers.

publish brand Fall movie

a film short i did for publishbrand.com shot in dec. 2010. It is for Fall 11 mens collection. This was a fun project and look forward to doing more short narrative based films in the future. Cash Espinoza plays the boy and Ryan Crenshaw plays the Dad.

Andrew Doheny film short.

Shot this for my friends at Vestal Watches. Shot this roll couple weeks ago- The film was hand processed by me-and it came out under developed. After seeing barely any imagery on the negative, it was colored with highlighter pens and sharpies hoping that it would bring texture to the thin negative, and after inversion it turned that orange color throughout. Then hue changes were added and flicker throughout to keep a colorful mood going as the imagery is rather difficult to make out. Quite like how imperfect it is, and it was a pleasent surprise that any images came out at alll. It turns out the film was developed  wrong when the reversal part of the process was skipped. That happening changed everything with the film and this would have never happened had it been processed professionally. This is one of those happy accidents that keeps me excited to experiment with alternative methods of film and film development.

Bidelem Bow

Heres the film short that was made while shooting this months issue of Blisss Magazine. It was shot over 5 days and it made it challenging for me to deal with the weather conditions during the time i needed to get it into print. Bidelem Bow is a rhyme that really has no meaning. It was a song recorded from early in The Growlers beginning, called the Acid raindance recordings. I built the film around the songs loose meaning and being of a product of living in the now.
