tin type collodion – Matt Taylor
Heres my second attempt at a tin type collodion . The dude in the picture is the often hilarious Growler guitarist – Matt Taylor. He is right outside his room at the Costa Mesa Growler studio. Used 1 hot light held by the wonderful Brook Power:) it was about a 7 second exposure, not a problem for the male model-slash-party boy -Cassanova -to pose it out western style.
The hat mysteriously disappeared into the white glop of the collodion, also his boots and a cactus on the bottom of the frame never came out. Thought i lost the slide into the bellows area so was Stoked i got an image. Guess i keep failing forward and learn by trial and error. It made me wonder…is there a collodion Iphone application?
BroWn Microwave Television – Al Knost Surfboards
Finally got a chance to see Mr. Knost in action shaping his new boards that i keep seeing, as well as, riding.HEre is 5 poloroids that i got this morning as Al gets new boards ready for numerous projects and people. HTe top 2 are 4x5s and the bottom 3 are 5 year old 600 poloroids with the white peeled off.
Must admit his boards are getting better and this one in particular was one of the first that was under 6 foot according to ALex. Also shot some super8 for our project before he heads off to Auz and Japan.
Brown Microwave Television is what he is naming his surfboards, that crazy Al. All the logos and laminates are 2 color double rainbows, they look super sweet and super minimal. nice! Sure within 5 years he will be killing it with his designs and shaping shred sticks as well as sick traditional planks that are gonna be huge collector items.
Tin Type – collodion
HEres my first TIN TYpe collodian image! THis is the process used in late 1800′s and into the first part of 20th century. ITs time consuming and considering all i went through to finally get to this point i am so happy. To even get an image was a shot in the dark, but things came out and tomorrow i will shoot 5 more images. Ill post em as i get em.
Warriors of Radness New York Invasion
So the Warriors of Radness flew me out to NY for the GQ magazine awards show. We are making a short film about the company, and the guys. Rumor has it that Brad Gerlach will narrate the piece. The WOR boys were a huge hit in NY and took the place by storm, and trashed a hotel room worse than i have ever seen one trashed. Here is a shot out front of Saturday’s coffee’surf shop on Crosby in NYC – started by the great morgan collett.
